In Fraction Theory, Nex Millen and Gary Dann weave drum beats with pieces of songs from legendary artists of the past to create a brand new sound. This DJ and Drummer Duo from Philadelphia are showing respect to their favorite traditional musicians by playfully layering samples with live instrumentation - masterfully performed with Millen’s innovative turntable soundscapes and artfully integrated with Dann's freshly sliced live beats on the drumset. The result is a head-nodding, danceable experience that bridges the gap between conventional music and modern, instrumental hip hop/turnablism. Although a basic structure exists to Fraction Theory's music, it is through improvisation that this experienced duo tips their hats in a musical conversation with world-renowned singers, songwriters and musicians. |
