Camping: About 5,000 people camp for the weekend at the Philadelphia Folk Festival. Camping is by weekend pass only and you must
have a camping ticket to enter the campgrounds.

The campgrounds has designated areas for both light camping (tents) and heavy camping (vehicles), which are in two separate areas of the campground. In 1997 we created a "quieter" Camping Area for families and those who want less partying. This is within the light camping area.

The campground opens at 10 a.m., Thursday, August 14, 2008 and closes at Noon, Monday, August 18, 2008. Entrance to the campgrounds is by wristlet and everyone, even children, must have a wristlet. Wristlets may be obtained upon arrival at the camping gate entrance and presentation of an All-Fesitval with Camping ticket.

The Festival will run an equipment-only tractor shuttle sporadically around a prescribed route on the campground road from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, August 14, and Friday, August 15. This is an adjunct to the shuttle that runs from the parking lot to the Camping Gate. Campers are responsible for loading and unloading all equipment. The route will be posted at the Camping Gate The tractor will remain on the road within the campgrounds and will not go to individual campsites. This is a service to campers; the Festival is not responsible for loss or damage to equipment.

It is not possible to reserve a campsite. In addition, you may not mark off a large site to accommodate other people. If you plan to camp with a group, your group must arrive together or you must bring and erect all the tents for the group.

Be advised that once parked, you may be "blocked in" and not able to leave until Monday morning. Please keep to the roads unless otherwise directed.

Camping Hints:
Remember, you are camping in a farmer's field at a time of year when the weather can include hot days, cold nights, rain, wind, and other variations.

1) Bring warm sleeping gear and clothes for all types of weather. It is best to bring clothes that can be layered.

2) Wear shoes, sneakers, boots, or other footwear appropriate to the site at all times. The ground is rough and there are many hazards to bare feet.

3) Bring plenty of sealable plastic bags to wrap articles of clothing.

4) Bring all personal toiletries or medications you will need, including sunscreen and bug repellent.
