The Ultra Kings

The Ultra Kings are rockabilly guys at heart, right down to having the upright bass, the swinging guitar sound and the abundance of song lyrics about girls, cars, girls and cars... and even more about girls... and cars! Hailing from the northeastern part of Pennsylvania, they also blend some retro honky-tonk and made-in-America rock ‘n’ roll into their music with some country and blues thrown in for good measure. They have three CDs released: She Never Says No (2001), Streamlined Deluxe (2003), and their latest, Church of the Weak (2006). But it’s their live shows where the Ultra Kings really get jumpin’ with Steve Zoot on the double bass, Carl Von Ehst on the drum kit, and Rick Kay on the guitar and lead vocals. Behind their bass-driven mini-masterpieces, they have a sound that rivals that of a hard-driving train running slightly ahead of schedule.
