Recycling & Trash Pickup
The Philadelphia Folk Festival values our carbon-neutral, sustainably-minded, and go-green patrons. The 50th Annual Philadelphia Folk Festival presented new opportunities for greening. Our attendees and volunteers offered great solutions for making PFF more sustainably focused and eco friendly. Local musicians have bonded together to raise money and support for initiatives including: a solar stage, composting stations, eco-workshops, whole and organic food options, bio-degradable and compostable food containers, a no-trace pledge that our attendees can share, and much more. Contact the Philadelphia Folksong Society or visit the Green Team Headquarters in the crafts area of the Folk Festival.
Trash is picked up daily in the campgrounds at about 10 a.m. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Campers are asked to put trash bags (available at camping HQ or bring your own) along the side of the roads in the campground. The Clean-up Crew also gives out trash bags when they pick up. When leaving the Campground Sunday night or Monday morning, please clean up your campsite and bring your bagged trash to the camping roadside for pick-up.
The Festival recycles aluminum and plastic. Special can recycling containers are placed all around the campground and concert area for deposit of cans. The Festival recommends that glass containers not be brought to Festival to avoid health and safety hazards. Please leave bottles and jars home. Trash receptacles are available all around the concert area and outside the Main Gate. Because the Folk Festival attendees are guests on the Old Pool Farm, we ask everyone to be diligent in using these containers to keep the grounds clean.
